The Effect of Digital Usage Ability of the Elderly, Including Kiosks, on Instrumental Daily A ctivities: A Basic Study of the Digital Care Industry for the Elderly, focusing on Gangdong-gu

Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of digital usage ability, including kiosk, on instrumental daily life activities by conducting a digital application survey and instrumental daily living activity evaluation for the elderly in Gangdong-gu.

Methods : From March 26 to April 16, 2022, a survey was conducted targeting the elderly in Gangdong-gu. A total of 100 questionnaires were distributed, and a total of 93 questionnaires were collected, excluding 7 unfulfilled questionnaires due to omissions, etc. The collected data were subjected to frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis using the statistical program SPSS 25.0.

Results : As a result of the study, first, it was confirmed that the elderly's ability to utilize digital information had a significant correlation with the instrumental daily activities. Second, it was found that the multiple regression analysis model of digital information utilization ability is suitable to explain instrumental daily life activities. Third, among the digital information literacy ability of the elderly, the higher the score of living convenience and entertainment and leisure activities, the lower the score of the instrumental daily living activity (K-IADL) and the significantly lowered the dependence score of the instrumental daily living activity.

Conclusion : The ability to use digital in old age has various effects on the instrumental daily life activities of the elderly. Accordingly, there is a need for a digital care industry to promote the daily living activities of the elderly, convenience in life, and social participation. To this end, it is necessary to prepare a plan to promote the digital care industry within the government and local governments as well as collaborative research in various fields such as design and management with occupational therapists.
